We are proud to announce that Pgold is now certified compliant under the Nigerian Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023; Nigeria’s most comprehensive data privacy law. This milestone reflects our commitment to protecting the personal information that our customers entrust to us every day.
What is the Nigerian Data Protection Act?
Signed into law in June 2023, the NDPA is the most comprehensive data protection legislation Nigeria has ever had. It established the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) as an independent regulator with broad authority to enforce compliance, protect the rights of data subjects, and govern how personal data moves across borders.
The Act applies to any organisation, domestic or foreign, that processes the personal data of individuals in Nigeria. For Pgold’s customers, this means the strongest data protection law in the country covers every piece of your information.
What this means for our Customers
Every time you use Pgold, whether you’re converting crypto, redeeming gift cards, paying bills, or sending global payments, you share personal and financial information with us. That information deserves the highest standard of protection available in Nigeria.
NDP Compliance certification means an independent body has verified that the way we collect, store, process, and safeguard your data meets the strict requirements of Nigerian law. This applies across all of Pgold’s services, without exception.
In practice, this means your personal data is protected against unauthorised access, misuse, or loss. You have legally recognised rights over your information, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data, and Pgold honours every one of those rights. Risks are identified and addressed proactively, and our security controls are reviewed and improved on a continuous basis. And if your data ever crosses borders as part of a global payment, those transfers are governed and secured under NDPA-compliant frameworks. Your protection does not stop at the Nigerian border.
“At Pgold, we deal with people’s money, their financial identity, and their trust. That is not something we take lightly. Achieving NDP Compliance certification is a formal declaration of something we have always believed: that protecting our customers’ data is not a legal obligation to fulfil minimally, it is a responsibility to uphold completely. As we grow, this foundation only gets stronger. Our customers deserve a platform they can trust without hesitation, and that is exactly what we are building.”
— Precious Eze, Chief Executive Officer, Pgold
Built with compliance at the core
Pgold was built to give Nigerians real financial power from their digital assets, converting crypto, gift cards, bill payments, and global transactions into tangible, real-world value. From the beginning, we understood that financial power without data protection is not power at all.
Acquiring the NDP Compliance certification does not mean we have changed how we operate. It means the structures we have always believed in: transparency, accountability, and security-first engineering are now formally recognised and independently verified.
As Pgold grows and more people trust us with their digital spend, that responsibility grows with it. This certification confirms that the right foundations are in place and that they will keep improving as we scale.
You can use Pgold with confidence
We take seriously the trust you place in us. Irrespective if you are a first-time user or a long-standing customer, your data is protected, not just by our commitment, but by the law.

If you have questions about how Pgold handles your data or your rights under the NDPA, you can reach our support team at any time.
